Outdoor Learning

We are fortunate to have our own dedicated woodland learning area on site, providing children with regular opportunities to learn and explore in a natural environment.

Through our outdoor learning programme, children develop a respect for the environment while learning how to explore safely, take appropriate risks, and work within clear boundaries.

Outdoor learning helps children build important life skills, including independence, resilience, teamwork, confidence, self-esteem and problem-solving. These experiences encourage curiosity, creativity and a deeper connection with the natural world.

We believe that access to outdoor learning benefits all children, which is why every pupil at Tanworth has regular opportunities to take part.

  • Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 participate in weekly outdoor learning sessions.
  • Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 participate at least once every half-term

At Tanworth, our outdoor learning experiences support children's personal development and wellbeing while bringing learning to life beyond the classroom.
